For Parents
Children (and adults) occasionally experience nervousness and fleeting anxieties when they are faced with an unfamiliar or especially stressful situations. Anxiety can be an important protection or signal for caution in certain situations. In fact, there are specific expected fears that accompany each stage of child development. Normal levels of stress/anxiety are actually good for us and can help us grow and learn. However, when these fears or stressors turn to worries that impact daily life, parents should intervene in order to provide healthy strategies for children to use to manage anxiety effectively.
